Mark

Yeah so I should be doing logic homework but I thought this was more important.

So I go thirsty tonight as I was driving home from my girlfriend's apartment (She was too tired to drive me home so instead she just let me take her car and then drive it back to her tomorrow). So stopped off at a gas station not too far from the garage I was going to park her car in. As I walk in there is a rather rough looking guy walking in. He says hey to me and I reply in kind. We chat a little as I grab a Dew and he grabs a beer. We make our way back up to the counter and he's mentioning about how he is going to have to walk all the way to st andrews road and how it's going to be a long and kinda scary walk (it's about 1am). As I walk out the door he asks me which way I'm heading. I gesture in the direction of my dorm. It was the opposite direction he wanted to go. I ask him where exactly he needs to get to. He tells me he needs to get to Broad River Road and then asks me for a ride. It is now that I probably make the most stupid decision but also the best decision. I decide to give this guy a ride. I didn't know whether or not this guy was going to rob me, carjack me, or simply take the ride I offered. As it turns out he just wanted the ride. As we drove along (it's about a ten to twenty min drive) he told me about why he was all the way down where he was. I couldn't get everything he was saying as he was using a lot of indefinite pronouns but apparently someone kicked a good friend of his out of the place that he was staying (in a cemetery in the woods). This man (mark) was in downtown because he was planning on beating the crap out of the guys who did this. When he couldn't find them he went down to a gas station that they frequented in order to wait for them. By the time I came along he had cooled down enough (and sobered up enough) to have thought of the consequences of his plan. Basically he said that I had saved him from going to jail. I dropped him off and drove back here where I'm preparing to do some logic.

Now I know as you read this you're thinking to yourself "David, it's freakin 1am, you're driving a guy who almost got sent to jail for assault, and no one is around or awake to help you if it turns out that he was making up his story of needing a ride. What in the world were you thinking?" You know I don't know why I gave the guy a ride. It was stupid and reckless but I did get to meet a really interesting guy. I also now understand that logic homework isn't the worst thing in life. And I got to show the love of God to a pretty nice guy who is simply a little rough around the edges. All in all it was a worthwhile experiance.
